Aluminium Foil Stand Up Pouch with Ziplock for Powders and SpicesSnack and Nut Packaging
Custom snack packaging for crisps, nuts, popcorn, jerky, dried snacks and sharing bags. We build it mostly as stand up pouches and back seal pillow packs in foil and PET/PE laminates with resealable zippers, and supply the same structures as printed roll film for your own form-fill-seal line. Snacks are bulky rather than heavy, so the gusset is set from volume and the barrier from the fat content: a salted nut and a plain cracker at the same weight do not need the same film.

Where Snack and Nut Packaging Sits in the Range
The numbers are how many packs in this range are also in that one, counted from the catalogue rather than chosen by hand.
About snack and nut packaging
The Pack Has to Survive the Aisle and the Handbag
Snack packaging takes more physical punishment than almost anything else we make. It is squeezed in a basket, dropped in a bag, opened and reclosed on a train, and left half-finished for a week. Nuts and crisps also bring their own chemistry: fat that goes rancid in daylight, and crispness that a little moisture destroys.
What the Contents Do to the Pack
- Fat and light. Nuts, seeds and anything fried oxidise. A window is lovely and it is also where the rancidity starts, so on a long-dated product we specify a foil or metallised back panel and keep the window small.
- Moisture. Crisps and crackers lose their texture long before they are unsafe. The pack fails on eating quality, not on shelf life, which is why the barrier is specified against crispness rather than against a date.
- Bulk. Aerated snacks fill a lot of volume for very little weight. A 100 g bag of crisps needs a bigger gusset than a 100 g bag of nuts.
- Sharp edges. Pretzels, crackers and jerky puncture a thin sealant from the inside during transit.
Which Shape Suits Which Snack
| Product | Usual shape |
|---|---|
| Crisps, puffed snacks | Back seal pillow pouch, filled with nitrogen |
| Nuts, trail mix, granola | Stand up pouch with a zipper |
| Jerky and dried meat | Stand up pouch, heavier sealant |
| Single portions and samples | Three side seal |
| Premium nuts at 500 g and up | Flat bottom bag |
The Zipper Question
Nuts and dried snacks are eaten over days, so a zipper earns its cost. Crisps are usually finished at one sitting and a zipper is film spent on nothing — it also raises the pack height, which costs shelf space. We ask how the product is actually eaten rather than adding one by default.
Frequently asked
Specifying Snack and Nut Packaging: The Questions That Decide It
Do I need nitrogen flush for crisps?
For anything fried and fragile, yes. It keeps the product from oxidising and gives the bag enough pressure that the contents are not crushed in transit. On dense snacks like nuts it adds little.
Why does my nut pack go rancid before its date?
Usually light rather than oxygen. Fat oxidises under daylight, so a large clear window on a long-dated product undoes the barrier behind it. A foil back panel with a small window is the usual fix.
How big does the bag need to be for 100 g of crisps?
Much bigger than for 100 g of nuts. Aerated snacks fill volume rather than weight, so we work the gusset from bulk density and you should expect a physically large pack.
Is a zipper worth it?
On nuts, dried fruit and anything eaten across several days, yes. On a single-serve crisp bag it is film and headspace spent on nothing, and it raises the pack height, which costs shelf facing.
Can jerky be packed in a standard pouch?
It needs a heavier sealant. Dried meat is sharp and salty, and both attack a thin inner layer over a few months of transit and storage.
What is the smallest sample sachet you make?
Around 5 g. Below that the seal land is most of the material and the price stops falling with the fill weight.
Can the same artwork run across several sizes?
Yes, and it is the economical way to launch. The minimum is per artwork, so a 40 g sachet and a 500 g sharing bag from one design share a production run.
Do you do euro slots for peg display?
Yes, or a reinforced hang hole. Both need seal land around them, so it is agreed before the dieline is drawn rather than after the artwork is approved.
Will a matt finish show fingerprints?
Less than gloss does, which is one reason it has taken over premium snack. Soft-touch varnishes mark more; we would flag that if you are considering one for a high-handling line.
Can snack packs be compostable?
Yes, with a shorter shelf life. For a fast-selling snack that is often no constraint at all; for a long-dated nut product it usually is. We test against your date rather than assume.
