Sacks That Survive the Yard, the Pallet and the Weather
Fertiliser, growing media, soil additives and agricultural inputs are heavy, sometimes abrasive, often hygroscopic, and rarely handled gently. A heavy duty sack in this range is specified for drop strength and puncture resistance first, and for shelf appeal second — which is the correct order for a product that spends its life in a garden centre yard.
Three Failure Modes We Specify Against
- Drop. A 5 kg or 25 kg sack dropped onto a concrete floor bursts at the bottom seal. Wider seal lands and a heavier sealant layer are the fix, not thicker film alone.
- Puncture. Granules and mineral additives abrade the inside; pallet corners and forklift tines attack the outside. Film thickness and laminate choice are decided from the product’s particle shape.
- Moisture. Most fertiliser cakes solid if it takes on water. A foil or high-barrier laminate and a properly closed top are what keep a sack saleable after a wet month outdoors.
Handling and UV
Carry handles, hang holes and reinforced top seals are all available. Where a sack is stored outdoors for long periods, UV-stable inks and a laminate that does not chalk are worth specifying — a bleached bag reads as old stock whatever the date code says.

Printed heavy duty sacks from 250 g through 1 kg, 2 kg and 5 kg retail sizes to 25 kg trade weights, in plain, foil and recycled-content laminates, with zippers on smaller resealable packs and EN 13432 compostable structures where the growing medium market asks for them. Larger and non-standard weights are quoted individually — send the fill weight, the particle description and the storage conditions and we will specify against them.
